Save Our Gantry

Iconic Structure

As you are probably now aware, the council is intent on demolishing the gantry across the park without consultation. We will be conducting an open day on Monday 27th January inviting everyone to visit the museum and we will be seeking their support to preserve the structure.

Sign our Petition

Retain or Replace the elevated replica mining trestle (locally called a gantry) to serve as a pedestrian access between the #2 South Great Eastern Mine shaft and the stamper battery in the main museum site. The reason for this request is that the Gympie & District Historical Society Inc have been prevented from maintaining the structure for the last 4 years.

About Us

The Gympie Gold Mining and Historical Museum is operated by the Gympie & District Historical Society Inc, a wholly volunteer operated organisation, with the Museum development and operation the most significant of its objectives. The Society was formed in 1965 to establish the Museum on the site of the former No 2 South Great Eastern Mine which was the second richest mine on the Gympie Goldfields
